Check-in Information

Vehicles need to be at the port to complete the check-in process a minimum of 60 minutes prior to the sailing departure, during busy periods please allow up to 1 hour and 30 mins. Please note that port security and immigration checks occur prior to check-in at Dover/Calais Ports, whilst after check-in at Dunkerque Port.

Vans - Do I need to travel as freight?

With Norfolkline, all private use vans exceeding 6m in length must be booked as freight. If commercial goods are being carried you must book as freight, regardless of the length. If your van is under 6m and you are not carrying commercial goods, please visit our passenger website's Norfolkline page

Recent Changes

Feb 2012 see's the launch of DFDS Seaways new route between Dover & Calais.

Norfolkline Irish Sea Routes between Liverpool and Heysham to Belfast have been taken over by Stena Line with effect from the 26th September 2011.

About Norfolkline

Norfolkline, now part of DFDS Seaways, is the only ferry company sailing to Dunkerque and operates up to 24 crossings a day with a journey time of 1 hour 45 minutes. With the combined experience as both a ferry operator and an international road haulier, DFDS Seaways provides a service designed specifically for the freight market.

The Dover-Dunkerque fleet consists of three near-identical vessels, Dunkerque Seaways, Dover Seaways and Delft Seaways all of which were built in 2005/6 and offer high standard on board facilities for freight drivers.

On board DFDS Deaways
