Celtic Link has recently announced the acquisition of a new vessel for its service between Rosslare & Cherbourg.
At over 27,500 tons Celtic Horizon will replace the current ship in October 2011. The vessel will have a service speed of 25 knots and will be able to accommodate up to 120 freight vehicles.
Operating since 2005, Celtic Link offers a direct ferry route between Rosslare in Co. Wexford, Ireland and Cherbourg, France and is the only ferry operator to offer a year-round service linking Ireland with mainland Europe.
With space for approximately 120 trucks the service is currently operated by Norman Voyager with three round trip departures each week. Sailings from Rosslare are on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and from Cherbourg on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The crossing time between Rosslare & Cherbourg is 18-19 hours.
Built in 2008, 27,000ton Norman Voyager is the newest vessel operating on the Ireland - France link and it is also the largest.
Onboard facilities include a fully licensed bar, a self-service restaurant, a shop, wide screen televisions showing the latest films and an observation area offering panoramic sea views.
With services operating overnight, freight drivers are offered accommodation in spacious cabins, meaning that they arrive refreshed and ready for the onward journey.
