NorthLink Ferries operates lifeline ferry services to the Northern Isles (Orkney & Shetland). NorthLink Ferries is part of the David MacBrayne Group Limited whose sole shareholder is the Scottish Government.

NorthLink Ferries sails daily from Aberdeen to Lerwick with frequent calls at Kirkwall and from Scrabster on the north coast of Scotland to Stromness in Orkney.The freight service is fully integrated with the passenger service, the fleet comprising three passenger vessels and two dedicated freight vessels. The freight vessels can deal with heavy and outsized traffic, livestock and hazardous cargoes.
