Information on Northlink Ferries Freight
Book Northlink Ferries Freight services with AFerry Freight .co.uk. With Northlink Ferries Freight services you can choose from up to three sailings each day from Scrabster (near Thurso) to Stromness in Orkney and nightly sailings from Aberdeen to Lerwick in Shetland - with four of these sailings going via Orkney's capital, Kirkwall.
The freight division of NorthLink Ferries operates three main freight routes - Lerwick - Aberdeen, Kirkwall - Aberdeen and Stromness - Scrabster, offering freight customers a service that is reliable and cost effective.
NorthLink's freight service is fully integrated with its passenger vessel service. The ferries provide safe and comfortable crossings and are designed to the highest standards in terms of both safety and comfort.
The specialist freight vessel MV Hascosay, can deal with heavy and outsized ro-ro traffic, large livestock consignments and hazardous cargoes. A second charter vessel covers livestock sailings in order to cope with peak demands.
These ships have been designed and constructed under the watchful eye of the Hebridean and Clyde ferry operators, Caledonian MacBrayne at the Aker Finnyards shipyard in Rauma, Finland. The Aker yard enjoys a worldwide reputation for excellence and CalMac, the technical partner in the NorthLink consortium, has 125 years of tradition and safety under its belt. All three vessels take account of the special demands of the North Sea and Pentland Firth weather conditions.
