About LD Lines

LD Lines is a subsidiary of Louis Dreyfus Armateurs Group which has been offering maritime transportation since 1904. Today, LDA have a fleet of over 60 ships operating worldwide.

LD Lines ro-ro vessels offer regular, reliable services combining both passenger and freight transportation. The daily cross channel services between the UK & France are fast and convenient using ports which are closest to London and Paris respectively.

LD Lines also offers ro-ro services between France and Spain, the crossing between Nantes/Saint Nazaire, in the Western Loire and Gijón in Asturias, takes 15 hours and saves a road journey of 1,000 kilometres.


On board LD Lines

May 2011 saw the return of LD Lines popular Norman Spirit on the Portsmouth to Le Havre route. At almost 29,000 tons Norman Spirit is a modern super-ferry with a maximum service speed of 21 knots. Fitted with stabilisers, she provides optimal comfort, whatever the sailing conditions.

Drivers can relax in the dedicated freight area, enjoy a meal in the self service restaurant and are provided with a berth in a shared cabin.

The same high level of service is also provided on the route between Newhaven & Dieppe. The Cóte D'Albátre, launched in 2006, offers a twice daily rotation on this route, operated by LD Lines and its sister company, Transmanche Ferries.

September 2010 saw the launch of the new service between Nantes/Saint Nazaire & Gijón. The service is operated by the Norman Asturias. At 26,500 tons the vessel has 2,250 lane metres and can accommodate up to 120 freight units.

Facilities include a self-service restaurant, a comfortable pub, the Wave shop and a cinema. The ship has 120 cabins.
