Artics (Trucks) Definition
- Consists of two sections, front section known as the tractor unit, and rear section known as the trailer
- Has a permanent or semi-permanent pivoting joint called a kingpin (allows the vehicle to manoeuvre easily, especially around corners)
- Standard is up to 16.5 metres long, 2.5 metres wide and 4 metres high
- If wider than 2.5 metres, this is classed as an abnormal load and different rates will apply
- A rigid lorry with a trailer is known as a Road Train and is usually up to 18.5 metres long
